Watching a movie in a theatre can be a bit of a gamble, but it always makes me thankful to know there are so many other great films to choose from, just by browsing through some movie catalogues online. Here are 5 films that are a must-watch this month!

 

1. Jump In

Don’t be fooled by the Disney logo on the poster of this movie; adults will enjoy this too! A teenage guy who joins an all-girl team to explore his passion for Double Dutch jump rope. Watch how he overcomes every obstacle, from friends to family. This movie is perfect for all age groups and for those who are looking for a little inspiration when it comes to standing up for yourself and the things you love.

 

2. Forks Over Knives

Forks Over Knives is a company that aims to change the way people view nutrition, which is exactly what they did in their eponymous film. It demonstrates the importance of food groups and the part they play in a healthy lifestyle. Viewed by millions of people all around the world, this is a film that will give you a whole new level of respect for your food.

 

3. Run Lola Run

After a botched money delivery, the protagonist Lola needs to obtain $100,000, failing which will cost her Manni, her boyfriend. This thriller will have you gripping the edge of your seat as it takes you on a heart-pounding roller-coaster ride, scene by scene as Lola races through the city of Berlin parkour-style.


4. The Fighter

Based on the story of American boxer Micky “Irish” Ward and the early years of his professional boxing journey, this dramatic biopic looks at how Ward rose from being a stepping stone for other boxers to being a champion in his own right, with the help of his older half-brother Dicky, who was himself a former boxer. Not your average sports film, The Fighter is rife with emotional upheaval and internal conflict that will hold your attention from start to finish.

 

5. Warrior

This movie is the perfect fit for a family movie night. Two brothers against each other in a mixed martial arts movie with their dad being a coach. A good movie can often teach us many valuable lessons about life, even if the source material is fictional. And while each of us are at liberty to interpret its contents however we want, the power of film is such that it makes us think while keeping us entertained.
